Join us for our first “working” exhibition – Accessioning the Armory: Collecting and Preserving Sheboygan’s Municipal Auditorium and Armory. Not only will this feature exhibition share the history of the building, from construction as a Great Depression WPA Project to the many events and activities over the years, but it will also give visitors a chance to see the process the Historical Society undertakes when bringing new items into the permanent collection. Artifact highlights include “center court” from one of the original NBA arenas, original building furniture, photographs, and more.
Scheduled days will be announced in the future for visitors to observe and chat with staff working on the process of numbering, cataloging, cleaning, and preparing the newest Armory related objects.
** Please note updated schedule! The Museum was fortunate to receive some grant funds to upgrade the flooring and make some needed changes to the Temporary Exhibition Gallery. Unfortunately, that also means we will need to end the “Accessioning the Armory” exhibition on September 19, 2020.**
