Parade@TheBowl August 26
8:00 pm
From 1935–2011, the Lantern Parade marked the end of the recreation department’s summer playground program each August. In some years they had thousands of participants who would make themed lanterns, walk in the parade, spectate, perform skits, and showcase a flashlight dance.
The Sheboygan County Museum invites children and families to learn about this community tradition in a hands-on/feet-on way. Participants can enjoy Food Truck Mondays at Vollrath Park and stop by the SCM tent to make a lantern. Let your light shine bright in the community that loves you at the culminating parade.
Making and parade are provided for free by SCM.
In the case of weather conditions beyond a drizzle, the day’s events will be cancelled with no rain date. 50 lantern kits will be made available for free at SCM for each cancelled making station date, first come first served.  The parade map will be made available for each individual’s own pilgrimage to the site if the parade itself is cancelled.
