From 1935–2011, the Lantern Parade marked the end of the recreation department’s summer playground program each August. In some years they had thousands of participants who made themed lanterns, walked in the parade, spectated, performed skits, and showcased a flashlight dance.
Sheboygan County Museum invites children and families to learn about this community tradition in a hands-on/feet-on way. Participants can enjoy Food Truck Mondays at Vollrath Park and stop by our tables to make a lantern. Let your light shine bright in the community that loves you at the culminating parade.
