Featuring cover art, sketches, life-size head busts, and more, Marvelocity: The Art of Alex Ross celebrates one of the greatest artists in the field of comic books. For nearly 30 years, Ross has revitalized classic superheroes into works of fine art by illustrating characters including Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, Storm from the X-Men, the Avengers, Black Panther and many more. Come explore how a three year old drawing TV commercials progressed to original comic books at age 13 onthe road to becoming one of the industry’s preeminent artists and bringing to life some of the most iconic images of the Marvel Universe.
Marvelocity: The Art of Alex Ross will be the feature exhibit at the Sheboygan County Historical Society and Museum from April 2 through June 25, 2022. The exhibit is included with regular Museum admission – $9 Adults; $7 Seniors (62+)/ Active Military; $5 Ages 6 – 17; Free Ages 5 & under; Free Museum Members. Museum hours are Monday – Friday, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and Saturday, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.
There will be a variety of special programs associated with the exhibit throughout April, May and June, including:
Hometown Comic Creators – Join local comic artists Ken Bailey and Kurt Wilcken to learn more about creating comic characters. April 23, 11:00 am to 2:00 pm
Cocktails with the Curators Marvelocity Edition – Visit with staff from both the Bess Bower Dunn Museum of Lake County and the Sheboygan County Historical Society & Museum about creating and hosting a traveling exhibit. May 5, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
MARVEL-ous After Party – Stop by for special extended hours following Mead Public Library’s Comic Con. May 7, 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
From Black & White to Blockbuster: An Adventure through Comic History – Join Curator Tamara Lange for a fly-by of comic history from the earliest days of the Platinum Age to today’s Modern Age, that launched with Alex Ross’ Kingdom Come. May 21, 10:00 am to 11:30 am
“Super” Family Trivia – Test your superhero knowledge with our family friendly trivia competition. June 11, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
