A Programming Update from Program Coordinator Chloe Seider

May 8, 2020

I hope that this finds you all safe and healthy during this crazy, unprecedented time we are living in. We wanted to reach out to let you know of changes that we have had to make to the programming at the Sheboygan County Historical Museum. Due to the extension of the Safer at Home order as well as uncertainties surrounding the future, we have had to make a few difficult decisions. Below you will find a monthly breakdown of regularly scheduled programming this summer, followed by information regarding new online and virtual program content we are currently doing or are in the process of developing.

Regularly Scheduled Programming:

May –
~ Friday, May 15, Sock Hop: RESCHEDULED (see bottom)
Please still join us on May 15 for a Virtual Sock Hop on Facebook! We’re going to the hop…in your living room! Start planning your 1950’s outfits. There will be a costume contest! More details to come.

June –
~ Sunday, June 20, Historic Homes of Plymouth Tour: CANCELED
This was a very difficult decision to make, but under the current circumstances it is best to cancel this year for the health and safety of featured homeowners, our volunteers, and guests. Thank you for your understanding.

~ Friday, June 19, Outdoor Movie Night, Dusk: NEW
As a way to still offer a program in June, we have decided to add an additional Outdoor Movie Night. It is our hope that we will be able to still host these fun evenings under the stars while following social distancing regulations. Plan to spread your chairs and blankets six feet apart on the lawn! Film to be announced, but as you can imagine I am excited to have another opportunity to share a classic film with you!

July –
~ Friday, July 17, Outdoor Movie Night, Dusk
Featuring: “Two Weeks With Love,” 1950 – Celebrating its 70th Anniversary
If social distancing rules are still in place, they will be followed.

~ August – Saturday, August 8, Pioneer Olympics: POSTPONED to 2021
In order to coincide our Pioneer Olympics with the Summer Olympics, we have decided to reschedule to 2021. We look forward to fun competitions and activities during the Pioneer Olympics next summer!

~ Friday, August 21, Outdoor Movie Night, Dusk
Featuring: “Good News,” 1947
If social distancing rules are still in place, they will be followed.
